Start with the room, not a paint catalogue
List the room’s actual use, its current wall colours, furniture finishes and the changes you are comfortable making. Bring a few photographs that show the same room from different corners. This gives a colour discussion a useful starting point.
Use the direction explorer as a starting point
Our free Vastu colour explorer groups traditional colour families by eight directions. It is a learning activity, not a personalised prescription for repainting every room. For a consultation, provide your floor plan and explain how north was determined; a direction label alone does not describe the whole space.
Compare small samples in your own light
Before committing to a finish, compare a small sample beside the furniture and flooring that will remain. Look at it during the times you usually use the room. Record which combinations you prefer and any budget or maintenance constraints you want the consultation to consider.
Ask for the reasoning and the scope
Ask which recommendations relate to your current layout, which changes are optional and what the agreed consultation includes. Colours can be discussed alongside practical interior preferences; a colour choice is not a promise of a particular life or financial outcome.
